About Karen

Karen C. Pruitt is a watercolor artist from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Her subjects include wildlife, waterfowl, and songbirds in their natural settings. Noted for her use of vibrant colors in a realistic approach with close attention to detail, her paintings are collected by people throughout the country. Since begininng her career as a professional artist in 1990, Karen has won numerous awards and frequently exhibits in art shows throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. She has also produced limited edition prints of eighteen of her paintings.

News and Updates

News - Snow Geese, as seen to the left, was Karen's first painting created for entry in a state migratory waterfowl stamp competition. It placed third in the Virginia competition held in March.

New Paintings - Six new original watercolor paintings have been added to Karen's gallery.

News - Karen recently reproduced two of her paintings as giclees. This exciting printing technique uses pigment inks which produce high quality images of vibrant color. Marsh Morning and Carolina Wrens and Apples are both available in editions of 200 printed on all cotton-rag watercolor paper. A small number of each will also be reproduced on canvas. News - Karen was recently notified by the American Diabetes Association that Marsh Morning, seen above, was chosen to be used in the 2009 Gift of Hope calendar for March. The calendar will be available on the ADA web site or in the Gift of Hope catalog beginning August 2008.
